Library Cards
Your Houston County Public Library PINES card can open the door to a world of information.
The Library System offers books, audiocassettes, compact discs and videos for you to take home to use and enjoy. Here’s how to get a valid Houston County
Public Library Card to check out library materials.
1. Who Can Get A Card?
Anyone living or working in the state of Georgia is eligible for a library card.
Children under the age of 18 who want to register for a library card must have the library card application signed by a parent or legal guardian.
The parent or guardian must supply identification that shows the current residential address. By signing the child’s application, the parent or
guardian accepts the responsibility for all items borrowed on the child’s library card. The child who is registering for the library card must be
present or the parent must supply identification for the child.
2. What Do I Need To Get A Card?
When you register for a library card you will need to verify your current name and address by presenting one piece of identification
with your current residential address.
3. Using Your Library Card and Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for all items borrowed on your card. Report a lost, missing or stolen library card
immediately by contacting your local branch library.
Most cards are valid for two years. Renew your card by presenting the card and identification with your current name and residential address. We will
renew your card after you have cleared all fines, fees, and overdue materials from your record.
You may use your library card at all libraries within the Houston County Public Library System. You must present your library card to borrow materials.
Library cards are issued to an individual and the Library System expects the card to be used only by the person who signed it. Special situations will be
handled on a case-by-case basis.
